Oakland Press columnist Pat Caputo hosts "The Book on Sports" weeknights and weekends on Detroit's Sports Powerhouse 97.1FM 1270AM. Nicknamed "The Book" because of his extensive knowledge of sports, Caputo joined 1270 XYT The Sports Station in May of 2002 and has been a fixture on sports talk radio in Detroit since 1996.

Caputo began broadcasting in late 1980s when he was a regular contributor to the Tigers round table segment on WDIV, Channel 4. He also hosted "Caputo’s Corner, a 15-minute segment on the Tigers pregame show on PASS from 1990-92.

At The Oakland Press, Caputo was the Tigers beat writer for 13 years and the Lions beat writer for five. He also covered Michigan State football from 1983-98 and MSU basketball from 1983-2001.

In 2002, Caputo was promoted to senior sports reporter and columnist. He has won numerous writing awards, including being named the top sports columnist in Michigan by the Michigan Associated Press Editorial Association and the Michigan Press Association, and one of the Top 10 columnists in the nation by the Associated Press Sports Editors. A graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in journalism, Caputo resides in Lake Orion.
