Which block was more impressive, Tayshaun Prince's block in the 2004 playoffs against Reggie Miller or the one against Hedo Turkoglu in this year's playoffs? Obviously both blocks were tremendous defensive plays and both helped lead the Pistons to victories, but what I want to discuss is the actual block. Not which meant more or had more impact but which block was physically more impressive?
First let's take a look at the block on Reggie Miller. Prince virtually came out of nowhere and like a terodactyl swooped in and blocked Reggie Miller's layup attempt. Not only did he have to run down Miller he also kept the ball in bounds for Rip Hamilton. Very Impressive! Now let me tell you why I think the block on Turkoglu is more impressive. Turkoglu had just scored on Prince twice by taking him to the hole both times so it only made sense for him to beat Prince for a third time. Also this was straight up defense with no help and unlike Miller Turkoglu knew Prince was there. And finally Turkoglu tried dunking the ball. I don't care what anyone says it's a lot harder to block a dunk than a layup. Oh and by the way he did this all without fouling Tukoglu. I'm sure Turkoglu's thought process in trying to dunk the ball was the least that's going to happen is that I'm going to get fouled right? Wrong. Basketball players are always taught to go up strong and something good will happen...oops I guess not always. So although both are impressive I give the slight edge to the block on Hedon't...I mean Hedo Turkoglu.
